DC-Based Muralist Brandon Hill Unveils “G.O.A.T.” – Gr8est of All Time – Honoring Ovechkin, The Caps, and Jubilee Housing’s Shared Legacy

Washington, D.C. — When muralist Brandon Hill first approached Jubilee Housing, his goal was to find a wall to honor the Washington Capitals. As a resident of Adams Morgan, Hill saw a unique opportunity to celebrate not only the Caps’ 50th anniversary and Alex Ovechkin’s historic goal-scoring milestone—but also Jubilee Housing’s own 50-year legacy of service.

“I was asked by the Caps to create artwork to honor the achievement by Ovechkin and the Capitals 50th anniversary. They floated a few possible neighborhoods and ADMO was on the list. Immediately I thought of that corner,” said Hill. “But as I learned more about Jubilee Housing, I realized this was a chance to celebrate two iconic institutions—both of which have had a massive impact on our community over the past 50 years.”

On April 7, Ovechkin made history, surpassing Wayne Gretzky for the most career goals in NHL history—an achievement celebrated across the city and around the world.

“Everyone knows about Capital One Arena and where our beloved Caps play,” said Tyrell Holcomb, Vice President of External Affairs at Jubilee Housing. “Fans across D.C.—including right here in Adams Morgan—have been part of Ovechkin’s journey. People watched him score goal #895 in homes, bars, and community spaces in this neighborhood. It’s only fitting that we show our appreciation through art.”

Titled G.O.A.T. – Gr8est of All Time, the mural captures the essence of athletic greatness: spirit, courage, optimism, promise, opportunity, grit, and hard work. It also reflects how Ovechkin’s “Gr8 Chase” was built on years of dedication, perseverance, and community support.

“We’re excited to celebrate Ovechkin’s historic achievement, the Capitals’ 50th anniversary, and our connectedness to the community through this stunning mural,” said Jim Knight, President and CEO of Jubilee Housing. “Thanks to Brandon Hill and Monumental Sports for bringing such a compelling image to our headquarters building, beautifying this prominent corner, and recognizing ‘hometown pride’ in Adams Morgan.”

The mural unveiling is being rescheduled and will be announced soon. It will be held on the Jubilee Headquarters Plaza in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
