In this the season of giving, Jubilee—like so many other organizations that serve vulnerable communities or vital causes—looks to you for help to continue pursuing our mission.
Over the more than 40 years of Jubilee’s work, you have never let us down. You’ve made space in your hearts and your budgets for D.C. families with few financial assets who need affordable homes that are accessible to crucial resources and coupled with opportunities we all need to thrive. This year has been no different.
You came to our aid in the face of a final attempt by profiteers to convert the Maycroft apartments to market-rate units.
You turned out in force for our Justice Housing Celebration last month, demonstrating your commitment to Jubilee residents and raising more than $90,000.
You stocked the shelves of our Elf Store with holiday gifts that Jubilee children could select for their families.
We thank you for those contributions and for all the other forms of support we received from you throughout the year. Your simple good wishes were invaluable.
Now we come to you with a final request in 2017—our annual year-end appeal. We know we are one of many making this ask of you. We hope you will choose to champion Jubilee once again and to dig deep.
Time is our most precious asset and our biggest challenge. Our city is changing rapidly, and there are fewer and fewer properties left to keep affordable.
Justice requires meaningful opportunities for prosperity for all citizens. An equitable city is a united city—not one divided by an ever-growing gap between the haves and have-nots among its citizens.
Jubilee’s contribution to a more equitable city will be three new justice housing communities—as soon as possible—in our core neighborhoods of Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, and Mount Pleasant.
Take up the cause of justice housing with us. Give to our annual appeal. You’ve stood with Jubilee before. We hope you will now and in the year ahead.
