Grants Manager

Since 1973, Jubilee has worked to provide high quality affordable housing and programs in the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods of Washington D.C. Jubilee currently operates ten properties totaling 299 units of affordable housing and offers robust programming for residents and community members pursuing life goals.

Jubilee produces not simply affordable housing, but justice housing. Justice Housing is affordable to those with the fewest financial assets, located in neighborhoods where resources such as good schools, grocery stores, and public transportation are readily accessible, and near services that support residents as they pursue educational and career attainment. Position Description:

JHI is actively recruiting to fill the position of Grants Reporting Manager. This will be a new position for the organization and will report to the Director of Research, Impact and Evaluation (Director). This position also will assist with cross-departmental duties as necessary to ensure success at meeting all of JHI’s fundraising goals and reporting requirements.

This position is a great fit for someone is passionate about affordable housing, and wants to manage the A-Z of a grant’s portfolio (on the development, reporting, or finance sides). You will get to manage the ins and outs of a grant portfolio, from the calendar, to compliance, to narrative reporting, to data, to financials. (Note that this isn’t a grant writer role – you will work in partnership with our grant writer who will apply for the grants, and you will help us report on them!)

This is a collaborative position that will work across the organization with many different departments. You are a good fit for this position if you are a grants professional who is a natural relationship-builder, good at managing details, and passionate about building affordable housing and services.

Specific Duties

This role will involve managing each grant in collaboration with these three departments: evaluation, development, and finance. The ideal candidate will have experience in some of these areas and a willingness to learn the other areas. Please tell us in your cover letter about your fit for these areas.

Evaluation Responsibilities

  • Assist with training, troubleshooting, and configuration of our data management software (training on our system will be provided!)
  • Support the existing processes and the development of new processes to collect the necessary information required by our grantors (for example, paper or online form design, reaching out to residents, and/or collaborating with internal Jubilee colleagues and external partners)
  • Be the go-to internal person to assist staff with grant portals

Development Responsibilities

  • Manage the grant calendar, understanding when funders will need reports, modifications, and renewal applications and helping ensure the organization meets those goals.
  • Communicate with grantors in a professional and relationship-building way.
  • Pre-Award Grant Support: Help provide data the Institutional Advancement Department (Fundraising and Communications) for the preparation of grants.
  • Post-award Grant Support: Work with Programs staff and Institutional Advancement Department to gather all information that grantors request for reports.

Finance Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Finance Department to continuously reconcile Institutional Advancement Department records of awards from funders and cash flow from all.
  • Assist all grant-funded staff in the tracking and reconciliation of monthly expended grant hours against grant budgets.
  • Work with Finance and Institutional Advancement Department to maintain these cross-departmental systems, by participating in Grants Tracking and Review meetings.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent background, with 1+ years of professional grant management experience.
  • Organized with high attention to detail. Able to manage compliance for the portfolio of grants with specific timelines and requirements for each funder.
  • Comfortable working with data and outcomes to help tell the story of our impact.
  • Experience in working with affordable housing, afterschool programs, families, or re-entry populations is a plus but not required.
  • Tech savvy. Comfortable learning new technologies. Willing to learn our database systems and help others (training will be provided for you on the specific systems). Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, database applications, and fundraising software is a plus.
  • In partnership with the finance department, able to understand financial documentation, grant budgets, and cash flow requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret funder documents (for example, grant reporting guidelines) and help the organization comply, in partnership with other departments.

Salary Range and Benefits:

  • $60,000 -$65,000 Salary Range
