Everywhere you turn at Jubilee, exciting new projects are falling into place.

Within just two months of its launch, the Justice Housing Partners, LP, already had helped finance the acquisition of Jubilee Housing’s next future justice housingTM community—a testament both to the fund’s appeal to investors and its ability to achieve the goal for which it was created.

Jubilee established the fund to provide quick capital for bridging financing of properties in Jubilee’s core neighborhoods of Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, and Mount Pleasant. All three areas have become among the most competitive markets in the city. The fund enabled Jubilee to compete with market-rate developers for the property at 1724 Kalorama Road, which will become approximately 25 deeply affordable units and space for Sitar Arts Center to expand its vital community services.

On the heels of that acquisition, Jubilee Housing joined five other nonprofits to kick off the Platform of Hope, a strategic alliance aimed at ensuring that people of all socioeconomic and racial backgrounds can thrive in Ward 1 and throughout D.C. The initiative is a collaboration among Capital Area Asset Builders, For Love of Children, Jubilee Jumpstart, Mary’s Center, Sitar Arts Center, and Jubilee Housing.

Later in October, Jubilee Housing will initiate a monthly tour of our properties and programs to expand the circle of champions for justice housing—housing that is deeply affordable, with nearby or onsite services, in thriving neighborhoods. Please plan to attend one soon.

And we recently concluded another successful summer youth program. Again, this year a highlight was the swimming course taught by Dickson Carroll. As always, while teaching young people basic strokes and water safety, he shared valuable lessons that last his students a lifetime.

So many people—staff and residents, neighbors and supporters, board members and D.C. officials—played integral parts in Jubilee’s achievements during the past quarter. The Jubilee community owes a debt of gratitude to each of them, including one who came on the scene more recently—Jubilee’s new Vice President of Program Kevin Sharps.

My personal thanks to all! I’m excited about working with you as Jubilee builds toward even greater impact by year end.

If you haven’t already, join us!
